The air pressure decreases as the volume increases. we figured this out by doing a lab were we increased the volume by fives and recorded it in are lab nootebook. As you can see in are table the air pressure decreased by a lot from 0 to 5 and it kept going down more and more. We alos made a graph to show are data. The graph decreases and it is not in a stairght line it is in a curved line. So are hypothesis was right we said '' as the volume increases the air pressure decreases.
Solid
A solid is a state in which matter has a definite shape and volume.
There are two types of solids- crystalline and amorphous
Crystalline solids have a very ordely, three dimensional arrangement of atoms or molecules.
Examples of crystalline solids are iron, diamond, and ice.
Summary
The purpose of our lab was to find out what properties affect the floating and sinking of clay boats. Some of the properties that have an effect on the boats are mass, volume, shape, and density. The clay boats that sink have a lower water density than the boats that float. Water displacement of the boats that float are the same measurements as the mass of the boat. The shape of the bottom of the boat affects whether the boats floats or sinks. The size of the bottom of the boat has to be large enough to push water away from the boat or displace the water, therefore making the boat float. With this lab, we concluded that the shape of the lower portion of the boat affects the floating or sinking of the boat.
10/10/07
A clay boat was found on the bottom of Lake Beaker. Agent Anita was on the boat earlier and was last talked to at 8:00AM. There were seven suspects in the case. We narrowed it down to three suspects, Mass, Volume, and density. We think the criminals are mass, volume, and denisity because density is responsible for objects sinking or floating in a liquid.
10/5/07
There is no correlation between the volume and mass of object made form different materals.
10/1/04 Today, we found the mass of water and isopropyl when mixed together. We found that the mass of water by itself and isopropyl by itself is the same as when their together. The average were very close to each groups data. Only one group of zero. The average of the sum of masses and the mass of water and isopropyl mixed were both about 46 grams.
